I was tasked with creating a web widget that would allow users to buy cryptocurrency quickly and easy.This was part of a series of features with the goal to increase sign ups, trust and retention for the site.

Goal
Acquiring new users by providing a quick way to buy crypto.Key Considerations
Since cryptocurrency is heavily regulated, it became clear we needed to take regulations into account early on and this meant to ask ourselves in which markets we could launch this feature.Test Then Growth
The product decision based on market regulations and growth goals, was to test this feature in the US market first, and then see how it performed before bringing it to other markets.It was important to consider the mobile version of this flow to ensure we didn’t miss any opportunities with users on a mobile device.
The widget will be placed on the home page at first and depending on success it would be placed across the entire site.
Simple Flow, Minor Tension
Since we needed to consider KYC flows (Know Your Costumer) to ensure there are no frauds and we are compliant with regulations, and we wanted to increase signed ups.It made sense to make take the user to create an account or login after selecting their desire currency and price. This will then take the user to the buy flow inside Blockchain.com’s wallet and then through the KYC verifications if they were a new user.
